Sydney June 12th 2009:
Six months after installing Three X vehicle tracking in their fleet Macquarie Drilling have improved efficiency, security and customer service. When asked “How has it helped your business performance?” Cameron Reid, Systems, Logistics & Administration Manager, said “Our site start time adherence has improved dramatically. Lateness to site was a constant frustration to our clients. On the odd occasion that we do receive a morning call from clients we are able to give them an accurate ETA for the crew’s arrival. We have become more streamlined and efficient”. Macquarie Drilling is one of Australia’s most capable drilling contractors with well-supported national operations in the Site Investigation and Resources Drilling sectors. Their professional management team is backed up by integrated, worlds-best practice systems and support services, specialised training systems and well maintained equipment to deliver safe, productive and consistent quality services to our clients. The theft of two vehicles and two compressors from their Sydney depot initially drove Macquarie Drilling to look into vehicle tracking. Installing tracking units into their fleet of over 30 vehicles has allowed them to accurately monitor the location of all rigs and vehicle, on and off site. The benefits have stretched beyond this and can be seen throughout the business.Improved customer service has been a real win situation. Macquarie Drilling can now provide accurate ETAs for equipment on site. Drilling crews often change over rigs and support vehicles depending on the requirements for the job at hand and tracking has allowed them to pinpoint where machinery is so we can respond more quickly to customer needs. Macquarie Drilling bill clients on site-times worked. Accurate tracking data ensures errors can be avoided and we can now provide accurate back-up data to clients to support our claims. As a rapidly expanding company Macquarie Drilling were finding it increasingly difficult to monitor staff payroll claims. Now each staff member is issued with a unique key which allows them to track the driver as well as the vehicle and time sheets are accurately recorded electronically. Employees written timesheets can be quickly double checked against the payroll report generated by the system. A series of automatic alerts are sent direct to employees, each week, to remind them to submit their time sheets and weekly plant inspection forms. Payroll staff no longer spend time phoning around chasing them up. The system has allowed this process to become streamlined, efficient, productive and cost effective.
